Chris Langan

Four-time Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Coach of the Year Chris Langan has been Felician's head baseball coach since the 2004 season. His recent teams have achieved an unprecedented degree of success at the University.

Langan has led the Golden Falcons to two CACC championships, five trips to the conference finals, six league or division regular-season titles, and four NCAA Regional appearances. His teams have qualified for the CACC playoffs following 14 of 18 completed seasons, including the last 10.

In 2021, Felician set a program record with a 10-game winning streak en route to capturing its fifth consecutive regular-season crown. Prior to the COVID-19 public health crisis shutting down 2020 prematurely, the Golden Falcons had posted five 30+ win seasons over a six-year period.

The Golden Falcons established program records for wins (35) and winning percentage (.700) in 2017. While recording a 20-2 conference mark, Felician made its first appearance in the national rankings, rising as high as No. 16 in the NCBWA poll, and set a program record with an in-season regional rank of No. 2. The standards for wins and percentage had just been set in 2016, when the Golden Falcons were 34-21. Both of those teams claimed the CACC regular-season title (prior to the conference's divisional alignment) and reached the NCAA Tournament, and the 2016 squad also seized the conference tournament crown.

Langan won the CACC Coach of the Year award four consecutive times, following the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 campaigns.

Felician burst onto the regional scene with its breakout 2014 season. The Golden Falcons won the program's first CACC championship and earned its first NCAA berth, eventually finishing 30-20. After that campaign, Langan was voted the Division II/III Coach of the Year by the New Jersey Collegiate Baseball Association.

Langan's 2012 squad captured the CACC regular-season championship and was the runner-up in the conference tournament. In 2006, he guided Felician to a then-record 29 victories, its first in-season regional-ranking, a runner-up finish in the CACC playoffs, and its only ECAC Tournament berth.

Langan has a school-record 457 victories in his 19 years with Felician. He has coached 92 all-conference, 34 all-region (including three region Players of the Year), and six all-America honorees. Twenty-eight of his former players have signed professional contracts, and five have been selected in the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. In June 2018, former Golden Falcon Jerry Vasto reached the major leagues with the Colorado Rockies.

Four of his former players -- Mike Rooth, Frank Quintana, Dennis Hulse and Mickey Zudonyi -- are members of the Felician Athletics Hall of Fame.

Langan was promoted to head coach after serving as a Golden Falcon assistant in 2002 and 2003, during which time he was the hitting coach and worked with the catchers and outfielders.

Langan was an all-state honoree at Keyport High School and helped the Red Raiders to a state championship during his junior season. Collegiately, he was a two-time all-league performer at Bloomfield College before transferring to Kean University, where he was a key contributor to the Cougars' 1998 NCAA Tournament team. Langan was a non-roster invitee to the Kansas City Royals' major-league spring training in 1999.

Langan owns bachelor's degrees in special education from Kean in 1998 and in social services from Almeda College in 2003. He chairs the CACC Baseball Coaches' Committee and is a past member of the NCAA Division II East Regional Advisory Committee.

Langan resides in Hazlet and has three daughters -- Chelsea, Ava and Ella.
