Chris Tilton

Fairfield University Pitching Coach

Chris Tilton - Fairfield University Pitching Coach

Chris Tilton will begin his second season as the Fairfield pitching coach. Tilton spent the five seasons as the pitching coach at Brown University and also brought 11 years of collegiate coaching experience.

In his first season with the Stags, the Fairfield pitching staff held the lowest ERA in the MAAC at 4.55 which also ranked 33rd in Division I. The Stags also led the conference with a 1.54 WHIP.

Highlighted in that success was right-handed starter Ben Alekson who was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Year after holding the lowest ERA in the league at 2.47 also placing 16th in the nation. Alekson also earned All-Region and All-ECAC honors while also being placed on the All-MAAC First Team and All-Championship Team.

Tilton was also instrumental in the development of freshman pitcher Harrison Engle who was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year, the first pitcher in Fairfield history to earn that award. He was also named to the Freshman All-American Second Team after tying for the team lead with seven wins which featured six-straight victories to end the season.

Tilton was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the last five years at Brown, with the Bears' pitching staff averaging 308 strikeouts during his stay. He helped mentor three All-Ivy league selections including Toby McDonough, who was Brown's first All-Ivy League First Team pitcher in six years. The Bears finished in the top-half of the Ivy League in strikeouts per nine innings and fewest allowed per nine frames.

Before his stay at Brown, Tilton was an assistant coach at four different stops including: Colby College, Belmont Abbey College, Assumption College, and St. Michaels College.

He was also the head coach at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy in 2018 and spent six years coaching with various teams in the Collegiate Summer Baseball Leagues.
