Chuck Willenborg

Chuck comes to Nike Camps with outstanding playing and teaching experience. As an 18 and under player, Chuck was a USTA Junior Clay Court Champion and played for the US Junior Davis Cup Team at the US Open, French Open and Wimbledon Championships. Chuck was a member of UCLA’s NCAA Championship team and was ranked as one of the top college players in the country.
As a professional player, Chuck was ranked for three years on the ATP tour in singles and doubles. He qualified for the Miami Open and defeated 3 players in the top 100 rankings to qualify.
As a college coach at Miami, Pepperdine and more recently at Johns Hopkins, He was awarded the prestigious PTR National Coach of the year award in 2013. Chuck is the winningest coach at Johns Hopkins where his teams won 3 National titles, 19 Centennial Conference Championships and coached 37 All Americans.
Chuck has had successful stints at several clubs in the area and in South Florida. His previous experience includes being the Director of Tennis at Greenspring Raquet Club where he initiated adult, junior and 10 and under programming as well as JTT team tennis and USTA league play. At Williams Island Country Club and North Shore Park, in South Florida, Chuck directed all levels of tennis and ran charity events to help Best Buddies and other charitable organizations.
Chuck is a PTR certified pickleball and tennis instructor. He is also a selected coach chosen for certification through the USTA High Performance Coaching Olympic certification program. The USTA honored Chuck with the 10 and under National Coach of the Year award in 2013 along with the ITA honoring him with the Community Outreach award for his service in Baltimore County.
Chuck comes from a tennis family where his brother Blaine was a top 50 ATP singles player and top 10 ATP doubles professional. His kids, Russell, Madeline, and Asher were all MIAA tennis players of the Year in HS and currently all play college sports. Chuck is married to Amity Willenborg who is also a top athlete herself lettering in three sports at John Carroll HS and played for Barry Universities' NCAA Women’s soccer championship team.
