Claire Gritt
Claire Gritt is the assistant women’s basketball coach and director of player development at Utah State University. Claire serves as support staff for Next Athletes and the Nike Basketball Camp at Westminster University.
Coach Gritt joined the Utah State women's basketball staff as a graduate manager in April 2021 before being promoted to Director of Basketball Operations in May 2022. She came to Logan after playing at Denver from 2017-21, including three seasons under current Utah State head coach Kayla Ard. Gritt was promoted to an assistant coach and director of player development prior to the 2023-24 season. During her playing career, Gritt appeared in 114 contests including 96 career starts, fifth-most in Denver program history. She totaled 1,068 points, 249 rebounds, 243 assists and 121 steals for the Pioneers. In the Denver record books, Gritt ranks seventh in 3-pointers made (132), ninth in free throws made (258) and 10th in free throw percentage (.766). As a freshman in 2017-18, Gritt was named the Summit League Freshman of the Year and also earned Summit League Honorable Mention honors after leading the team with 10.3 points per game. Gritt, a native of Arlington Heights, Ill., graduated from Denver in June 2021 with bachelor's degrees in psychology and communication, with minors in marketing and sociology. She is in USU's sports management master's program.
