Coach Dot

Sir Derrick “Coach Dot” Dotson is a native of Shreveport, LA and a 2012 graduate of Arkansas Baptist College. Dot received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. His passion for sports developed at a young age; however, his work ethic and dedication created an opportunity for him to play collegiate football. While completing his Bachelor's degree he gained experience working as an Athletic Student Assistant Advisor for Arkansas Baptist and in 2009 Arkansas Baptist hired him as the official Quarterback coach.

In 2012 Dot furthered his career as the Defensive Back Coach & Coordinator for Offense-Defense Training Camp. He worked closely with the 8-18 age group in developing their mental toughness, strength and conditioning, ball skills, tackling, and route recognition. Dot immediately recognized the importance of developing athletes after working with them one on one and in weekend training sessions. While at Offense-Defense Training Camp he worked with Bill Bates (Former All Pro Safety and Special Teams Coach for the Dallas Cowboys) and Larry Kirksey (Former Houston Texans Wide Receiver Coach) to help the participants increase their knowledge of the game. From 2016 to 2017 he was the Passing Coordinator/WR Coach for Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. Dot also served as the Assistant Strength Coach at Florida Atlantic University during the 2017-2018 academic school year.

His passion for developing athletes was the fuel needed to exit the collegiate arena and return home to Louisiana, where he volunteered to work with local athletes in the community. Engaging in the community and seeing the lasting impact it had on the young athletes became his motivation to start Innovative Sports Performance (ISP), LLC in 2018.

The vision of ISP is to better enhance the athletes’ overall performance. The focus is explosive speed work and recovery. Dot trains athletes ages 6 and up. The sessions are tailored for age appropriate groups. Ages 6 to 12, while still developing physically, focus on mechanics, endurance, and resistance training. In addition high school, collegiate and professional athletes receive toning, explosive speed, form, and recovery training. He received his Personal Trainer Certification through International Alliance for Fitness Professional (IAFP).
