In her five seasons as head coach at Onondaga CC, Nichols compiled a 137-66 record while producing 2 NJCAA All- Americans, 11 All-Region standouts, along with 12 Mid-State Athletic Conference

In her five seasons as head coach at Onondaga CC, Nichols compiled a 137-66 record while producing 2 NJCAA All- Americans, 11 All-Region standouts, along with 12 Mid-State Athletic Conference All-Conference players. In addition, the Lazers have qualified for the Region III Softball Championship in each of the last four seasons and finished third in the nation at the 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Softball Championships in Rochester, Minnesota. Nichols also produced two National All-Tournament Selections at the 2016 Championship Tournament. Onondaga was also the 2016 Recipient for the Region III Sportsmanship Award for the 2016 season. This is a testament to their coaching staff and student-athletes.

As a student-athlete at Onondaga, Nichols twice earned All-America honors in the pitching circle and holds six Onondaga pitching records to date. She went on to play for the University of Iowa Hawkeyes where she received Big Ten Honors as a Hawkeye.

**In 2009, she was inducted into the Onondaga Community College Hall of Fame. In June of 2014, she entered the NYSPHSAA Softball Hall of Fame, becoming the first Section III athlete to be honored.
