Dave Clausen
Head Coach St. Lawrence Men's and Women's Golf

Dave Clausen was named the Mary A. Lawrence Head Coach for Men's and Women's Golf in August of 2024.
Prior to joining the Saints, Clausen served as the head men’s and women’s golf coach at Utica University from 2016-2024 and the head women’s hockey coach from 2001-2024.
On the men’s golf side, Clausen was awarded Coaching Staff of the Year honors three times (2019, 2020, 2021) and coached 17 Empire 8 All-Conference honorees from 2018-2024. Under his guidance his student-athletes were named Empire 8 league champions in 2019-20 and 2020-21 and made their first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 2021. He coaches the conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2018 and the Player of the Year in 2021.
Clausen also started the women’s golf program at Utica in 2016. During its first year, Kara O’Driscoll earned First-Team All-Empire 8 honors, and the team grew to place second in the Northeast Women’s Golf Conference Championship in 2019-2020. That same season Abby Ainsworth was named Second-Team All-NWGC.
Clausen recently completed his 22nd season as the first and only head coach in the history of the Pioneers women's ice hockey program. He compiled an impressive overall record of 325-210-35, was named a finalist for National Coach of the Year for the 2023-24 season and guided his squad to a conference playoff berth in 20 of 21 seasons at the helm.
In 1998, Clausen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Hamilton College. He and his wife Amy have three children, Noah, Casey, and Lucas.
