Dennis Smith currently lives in Upper Township, New Jersey, married with four kids and the Dean of Students as well as Head Varsity Softball Coach at Holy Spirit High School. This was my 14th year as teacher and Dean and I will be concluding my 4th season as Head Coach of Softball.
Dennis is a Holy Spirit Alum, graduating in 1989, and had other roles at Holy Spirit including Head Varsity Girls Basketball coach for 7 seasons, compiling a 144-32 record. Dennis graduated from Stockton University, and holds a dual degree in Secondary Education and History.
Dennis took over a floundering softball program in 2020, the year of COVID and the season was lost. The next year, Holy Spirit won 6 games, and then 9 games and finally a breakthrough in 2023, Holy Spirit captured the first conference championship in Softball in 32 years. The program has sent 2 players in the last 3 years on to play softball in college.
As a program we are looking to sustain the success we had last season, winning our conference! We have been moved up a division so we will be challenged all season. We will rely on our fundamentals and pitching to win games this season.
