Dottie Hampton - Director

Prairie View A&M University is proud to announce the appointment of Dottie Hampton as the new head coach of its volleyball program, effective March 10, 2025.

Hampton brings a distinguished blend of coaching and playing experience from her previous roles at UNCW, Niagara, and South Carolina, marking her fourth head coaching position.

"I am incredibly excited to join the Panther Volleyball family and truly honored by this opportunity. I want to extend my sincere thanks to Athletic Director Anton Goff and Senior Associate AD/SWA Alicia Pete for placing their trust in me. Being part of a program with such a storied tradition is a dream come true. I'm inspired by the exceptional work here at Prairie View A&M University and look forward to contributing to the continued success of Panther Nation. Let's get started!"— Dottie Hampton
At UNCW, Hampton led both the indoor and beach volleyball teams from 2020 to 2024, transforming the program's culture and competitive stature.

Before UNCW, Hampton enjoyed significant success at Coastal Carolina, guiding the Chanticleers to a 24-6 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the Sun Belt Conference. Under her leadership, the team topped the Eastern Division and advanced to the conference finals, narrowly missing the title. Key players, including Anett Nemeth and Brigitta Petrenko, flourished under her mentorship, earning honors such as AVCA Honorable Mention and First-Team All-SBC selections.

Hampton's career also includes impactful assistant coaching roles at prominent programs including Indiana University, George Mason University, the University of Pittsburgh, and Butler University. At George Mason, she helped secure a Colonial Athletic Association Tournament championship and an NCAA berth, while her contributions at South Carolina from 2014 to 2017 supported the Gamecocks in achieving 60 wins over four seasons. Her stint at Niagara further underscored her ability to elevate teams, with the Purple Eagles recording a solid 15-14 season.

An accomplished athlete, Hampton is a 1998 graduate of Purdue-Fort Wayne, where she earned three All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors, two All-Region distinctions, and an AVCA All-America selection. After college, she continued her volleyball career in Europe, playing professionally for four seasons.
"With an extensive national search, we sought a leader with a winning pedigree and a profound commitment to enhancing the student-athlete experience. In Coach Hampton, we found both—and more," stated Athletic Director Anton Goff.

Senior Associate Athletic Director/SWA Alicia Pete added, "Coach Hampton is a remarkable leader with a proven track record of developing student-athletes on and off the court. Her passion for the game, commitment to excellence, and dedication to student success make her the perfect fit for our program. We are excited to welcome her and look forward to the positive impact she will have on our volleyball team."#pvamuvolleyball #NewEra #GoPanthers #NextLevel
