Northwestern's most dominant pitcher since Lisa Ishikawa led the Wildcats to four-straight Big Ten titles in the mid 1980s. A two-time Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, two-time NFCA All-American and four-time All-Big Ten selection, Canney began her career as the 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and at the time of her induction remained the NCAA single-game strikeout record holder with 28 in a complete-game, 18-inning win at Minnesota in 2006.

-Currently tied for NCAA single game strikeout record with 28 strikeouts in an 18 inning game against Minnesota in 2006.
-Graduated with a career overall record of 97-35 (ties Northwestern record), 1,142 strikeouts, 1.63 ERA, 39 shutouts, 8 saves, .177 opponents batting average, 3 career no-hitters, 1 perfect game.

Professional Playing Highlights

-2nd overall pick in the 2007 National Professional Fastpitch (NPF) Draft
-Played for New England Riptide in 2007, 2008; and Chicago Bandits in 2009 and 2010.
-Lead NPF in strikeouts and ERA in 2007.
-NPF Pitcher of the Year in 2009.
-Played for Denso in the Japanese Softball League in 2010 and 2011.
-Member of USA National team in 2010.
-Won 3 gold medals with the USA National Team.

Career
-Assistant coach at UIC Flames from 2011-2015.
-Won two Horizon League regular season titles in 2013 and 2015.
-Coached two players to receive Horizon League Pitcher of the Year honors: Devin Miller (2013), and Elaine Heflin(2015).

Canney Linnehan earned a bachelor's degree in human development and psychological services from Northwestern in 2007. Currently a pitching instructor in the Chicago area, where she resides with her husband Andrew and 1.5 year old daughter Lila.
