Ellis Badillo begins his 10th season as an assistant coach after joining the Broncs’ staff for the 2012 season. During this period the Broncs have experienced great success, including a MAAC Championship (2014), the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA National Tournament (2014), four appearances in the MAAC semifinals (2013, 2014, 2015, 2020-21) and eight-consecutive appearances in the MAAC playoffs (2013 to 2020-21).

Instrumental in the development of the women’s soccer student-athletes at Rider, Badillo’s impact is evident in the number of All-Conference honorees he has developed since arriving in Lawrenceville. Since 2014, 13 players Badillo has coached have received the highest honor in the conference and been awarded First Team All-MAAC accolades.

Hailing from London, Badillo was a professional soccer coach and trainer with both Fulham FC and Wimbledon FC youth academies in England before moving his coaching career to South Jersey in 2002. Many of his former players have gone on to have successful collegiate and professional careers. Badillo currently holds a USSF ‘A’ coaching license and an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. A former youth academy player with Premier League club, Chelsea FC, Badillo won a British Universities National Championship with Roehampton University and played at the semi-professional level for more than a decade.

Badillo earned a BSc in Sports Studies and Health Studies in 1997 and an MA in Sport, Culture and Development in 1999 from Roehampton University. Following graduation, from 1999 to 2001, Badillo was a lecturer in the ‘International Politics of Sport’ at Roehampton University.
