Evann Slaughter

Evann Slaughter is a former professional volleyball player for SCU Emlichheim in Germany, and is currently a Volunteer Assistant coach with UMES.

Evann Slaughter is entering her third year as a volunteer assistant volleyball coach for the Hawks.

Slaughter assists in practices and helps in some logistics as part of her duties. Along for the full season in 2018, Evann helped guide the Hawks to ten wins, a second place finish in the MEAC North, and an appearance in the conference quarterfinals.

Slaughter originally hails from Maryland, competing for Oxon Hill High School in Prince George’s County. For college she went up to Long Island, where she was a standout middle blocker for Stony Brook University. Over four seasons, Slaughter was named the 2010 America East Rookie of the Year and earned a pair of First Team All-Conference selections.

Her career at Stony Brook ended with 1,024 kills and 354 blocks. On November 14th, 2014, she became the 10th player for the Seawolves to register 1,000 kills. Four years after graduation, her block total ranks third in team history, with kills ranked 10th.

During her tenure, the Seawolves had a winning record in conference and an America East championship appearance in 2011.

After Slaughter’s college career ended she played professionally for two seasons with SCU Emlichheim in Germany. In her final year as a pro, she was awarded eight match MVP recognitions.

While volunteering with the Hawks, Slaughter will pursue a doctorate in physical therapy at Maryland Eastern Shore.
