Greg Lazaga

Greg Lazaga is entering his third season at the helm of the Jessup men's soccer team after taking the head coaching position following the 2015 season.

After a standout career playing soccer for Summerville High School in Tuolumne, California, Coach Greg Lazaga would play soccer at Azusa Pacific University between 1998 and 2001 in the forward position. He graduated from the same school in 2001 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education/Kinesiology. While attending school, Coach Lazaga did not keep his soccer gifts in California as he would seize the opportunity to travel with the Charlotte Eagles Missionary Athletes in Action team on international tour for two years.

Even before graduating college, Greg Lazaga had begun his coaching career, taking the opportunity to coach a JV high school team in Walnut, CA between 1999 and 2001. After graduating, Coach Lazaga was called into a career of teaching and earned his teaching credential from CSU Sacramento before starting an illustrious 12 year elementary and high school physical education teaching career. While teaching, Lazaga would also earn a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University.

During his teaching career, Coach Lazaga wouldn’t lose his love and pursuit of soccer. After another two years of coaching high school JV soccer, he would serve has head varsity coach at Luther Burbank High School, where he also taught, for eight seasons. He led his Luther Burbank team to the school’s first two Metro League Championships. Moving into the collegiate realm, Coach Lazaga would earn a year of experience as assistant soccer coach at Cosumnes River College before coming to Jessup where he is now a fulltime coach.
