Hassan Bilal - Camp Director

Coach Hassan Bilal is Lead Coach of the JV Football Team and a Varsity Assistant Coach at the Hackley School. The program is in great standing, as both JV and Varsity teams had undefeated regular seasons in 2024 – JV finishing its season 5-0 and Varsity losing in Metropolitan Independent Football League championship game, its only blemish this year. Coach’s JV team was also undefeated in 2023. As a program the hornets look to continue to grow and develop, and be a perennial power in their league.

Coach is a New York City native, who spent many of his formative years growing up in the central Westchester County area (as he moved to Greenburgh/White Plains while still in elementary school). He was a multi-sport athlete as a youth, eventually concentrating more on the sport of football during his later high school years. On the gridiron he played 3 years at the varsity level, graduating in 1997 from nearby Woodlands High School (Hartsdale, NY). He played running back on offense and defensive back on defense – where he shined as a leading tackler and showcased his strong coverage abilities.

After graduating from high school Coach Hassan went on to attend prestigious Worcester Academy (Worcester, MA), completing a Post Graduate year of study, earning a PG Degree, running track and participating on the football team as a running back and defensive back. While at WA he had the opportunity to play the game of football at a high level along-side elite level talent from across the country and competing against some of the best prep football programs throughout New England.

He continued his education at two different universities – Florida A&M and St. John’s. At FAMU he redshirted his freshman year, but still worked out on a daily basis with the team, developing his body and honing his skills. After that year he decided to return back to the NY area to finish his studies at St. John’s, a school that had recruited him while in prep school. He has many fond memories of his college career. During his time at St. John’s he served the program as a defensive back – playing several positions in the backfield – highlighted by being a part of one of the top defenses in all of Division 1AA the year of 1999.

Coach graduated from St. John’s with a BA in History in spring of 2003. He began coaching basketball and football scholastically at that time. After 2005, taking a break from coaching football, he rose to be a leading figure in the NYC Metropolitan area in the fields of AAU/travel and school basketball coaching, but recently in the fall of 2023 he reintegrated himself into the world of coaching youth football – joining the staff at Hackley School. He currently is the Lead Coach of the JV Football Team at Hackley and a Varsity Assistant.

Coach Hassan also continues to be a multi-sport coaching threat, being a head coach of middle school basketball at Hackley, and also a head coach and administrator with the AAU and travel programs that he is affiliated with in the Greenburgh, NY area.
