Coach James Page will be entering his 4th season as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Cabrillo. Named Head Coach in 2020 after serving as an Assistant for 8 seasons under Tony Marcopulos, the COVID pandemic delayed the start of his tenure, but in 2021/22 his 1st true season at the helm ended with a 18-12 record, a 1st round road playoff win vs. American River College (83-64) before losing to eventual state champion City College of San Francisco (79-69).r.
The Seahawks placed several players on the Coast South All Conference Team. Austin James (1st Team), Jonel Aponte (2nd Team), Alphonse Alfred (Honorable Mention), Joe Rush (1st Team All Freshman), Ronique Spencer (1st Team All Defense) and Samy Buteau (1st Team All Defense) were all recognized by the Conference for their performance throughout the year. The Seahawks saw several of their sophomores (6) receive athletic scholarships to continue their caree
As an Assistant on staff under Tony Marcopulos for 8 seasons the Seahawks won 6 Conference Championships, had 7 players named Conference MVP, made 6 state playoff appearances, moved on nearly 30 kids to the 4 year level and won almost 150 games.
Prior to Cabrillo Coach Page served on staff at his alma mater UC Santa Cruz for 8 seasons under Gordon Johnson. In his time at UCSC the team improved its win totals for 5 consecutive seasons finishing at 15-12 in his final season, which at the time was the best record in school history.
Coach Page played 2 years at UC Santa Cruz (2001-2003) after playing 2 years at the University of Redlands (1998-2000). He graduated from UC Santa Cruz in 2003 with a degree in Sociology and received a masters from Ohio University in Sports and Recreational Sciences in 2015.
Coach Page is originally from Ramona, he currently lives in Aptos with his wife China Page.
