Jessica Giglio

The upcoming 2019 season marks Jessica Giglio's eighth year as the Fresno State head lacrosse coach with the Bulldogs heading into their 10th season as a program.

The Bulldogs broke 17 team records during the 2018 season. Fresno State had its first MPSF Rookie of the Year in Mackenzie Wallevand. Six Bulldogs were named to the All-MPSF Team, the most in program history. Fresno State had eight MPSF Player of the Week honors this season. The 2018 squad had a four-game winning streak on the road, the marking the most consecutive wins in program history.

The 2017 season was Fresno State’s most successful season to date. Giglio lead her squad to the first winning season in program history (9-7). The ‘Dogs had a record-breaking five wins at home and three on the road. The team broke 25 program records throughout the season. Six individual single-season records were broken, including points, goals, assists, hat tricks, shots and draw controls. Sarah Bloise, Tiffiny Wallace and Kyleigh Westgarth were name to the All-MPSF Second Team. Giglio’s 2017 team also excelled in the classroom with nine MPSF All-Academic selections and three IWLCA 2016-17 Academic honorees.

During the 2016 season, the Bulldogs set top marks for the program with five wins and three home. Fresno State broke 16 program records throughout the season. Under Giglio’s leadership four individual single-season records were set in points, goals, ground balls and draw controls. Caroline Dineen-Carlson was named to the All-MSPF Second Team for the second consecutive season.

The 2015 season was a special one for Giglio and the Bulldogs, as their four wins set a program record. Midfielder Caroline Dineen-Carlson was named to the All-MPSF Second Team after setting a program record with 30 goals on the season. 10 Bulldogs also earned MPSF All-Academic honors. Fresno State made great strides under Giglio (pronounced: JILL-ee-oh) in 2014, including a key 16-12 home victory over St. Mary's in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) play to finish above them in the final conference standings. The Bulldogs also opened the season by defeating Monmouth N.J. on the East Coast.

One of the lacrosse program's primary points of emphasis is the importance of the student-athlete experience - which is highlighted by midfielder Marcy Levatino, who led seven Fresno State All-MPSF academic honorees in 2014 and was elected as the athletic department's Student-Athlete Advisory Council President for the 2014-15 academic year. Levatino, a nursing major, represents Bulldog student-athletes at conference, regional and national meetings.

During the 2013 season, Giglio led the team to two nonconference victories, breaking several school records and earning many conference honors along the way in just her second season with the Bulldogs. Three 'Dogs earned MPSF weekly awards under Giglio's leadership. Levatino was named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week and Anjelica Fuccillo earned MPSF Rookie of the Week after the first week of play while Katie Wilbur went on to be named MPSF Defensive Play of the Week in the first week of March.

Under Coach Giglio, the Bulldogs also broke several single-season records in 2013. The team recorded a season-best 147 points and 115 goals. The 'Dogs also topped the Fresno State single-game points record with 23 against Presbyterian and the single-game save record with 18 at Denver.

At the conclusion of regular season play, Levatino was named to the 2013 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-MPSF Second-Team. Levatino was the second Fresno State lacrosse student-athlete to ever earn All-Conference honors.

In her first season, Giglio helped the Bulldogs to their first win in the program's four year existence. She lead the team to an overall 3-10 record , including the No. 1 upset of the year, beating UC Davis, 12-11 in double overtime for their first conference win in the MPSF.

Under Giglio's tutelage, Briana Hetherington was named the MPSF Player of the Week after the Bulldogs first win in program history against Long Island 17-12. Hetherington was the first Bulldog ever to win this award.

Prior to joining the`Dogs in 2011, Giglio spent four seasons as head coach at Oneonta State. Giglio's resume includes coaching two All-Region All-Americans and multiple SUNY all conference selections and coaching Rendcomb Junior College to a United Kingdom National Championship final.

SUNY Athletic Conference was familiar territory for Giglio, as she graduated from SUNY Geneseo in 2006, where she played four years of lacrosse and three years of field hockey for the Blue Knights. As a goalie for the Blue Knights, she finished her career ranked second in career saves with 629, including a season-high 180 saves in 2004. She received multiple accolades and graduated as the most decorated goalie in Geneseo history.

Giglio arrived in Oneonta in the spring of 2008 after living in England coaching and playing lacrosse.

In England, Pausewang coached lacrosse for two years at Rendcomb College. She also coached the Developmental team, University College of London, and other various schools with the English Lacrosse Association. She played and coached for the Hitchin Lacrosse Club in England from 2006 to 2007 and also played and coached for the Cheltenham Lacrosse Club in England before returning to the United States.

Giglio was also the former head coach for four years for the Finland Women's National team and is currently the assistant manager for the 2017 U.S. Women's National Team.

A Long Island, N.Y. native, Giglio is a Level II certified international lacrosse and field hockey coach. She is also an international qualified lacrosse referee.

Giglio graduated with a dual degree in communicative disorders & sciences from Geneseo in 2006.

The former Jessica Pausewang married Michael Giglio on August 30, 2014 in Coronado, Calif.
