Joey Cha
Camp Director
Joey Cha is the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Davenport University
Joey Cha joined the Davenport University volleyball staff in July 2024.
Cha came to DU from Grand Valley State University, where he served as an assistant coach for three seasons (2021-2023). While with the Lakers, he primarily worked with the defensive specialists and pin hitters. Cha also helped with practice planning and leading serve-receive, defense and out-of-system attacking drills.
While coaching at GVSU, Cha was also an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s club volleyball programs in 2021 and 2022.
The Seoul, South Korea native has also coached at Michigan Volleyball Academy (2016-2020), West Catholic High School (2016), Northview High School (2017) and East Grand Rapids High School (2018-2021).
Cha graduated from Grand Valley State in 2017 with degrees in education and physical education. While in school, he was a member of the men’s club volleyball team and served as a captain his senior year.
