John Call, a coach with Nike Sports Camps since 2016,
combines his knowledge of coaching, recreational therapy, and positive
psychology, to teach skills and promote healthy behaviors for athletes. To make
a lasting impact on each player, Coach Call focuses on facilitating individual
and team activities that help players develop a love for the game, enhance
skills, increase self-confidence, and boost self-efficacy.
Coach Call began coaching to give back to the sports community that provided many opportunities for him and is passionate about teaching the game to the next generation. He focuses on helping youth develop leadership skills to use on and off the court. Coach Call uses his unique education in recreational therapy to help improve the physical, psychological and emotional well-being of those he works with.
He is a licensed coach in basketball, soccer, and snowboarding. Coach Call's love for sports began as a player where he helped lead various teams (basketball, lacrosse, football) to regional and state championships. His professional experience includes working as a sports program coordinator, referee, and wilderness therapy guide. Through his deep knowledge in various disciplines, John has chosen to focus on the sports that shaped his life: basketball and soccer. This has led him to coach at several schools, sports academies, and camps: Nike Sports Camps, The University of Utah, High School & Jr. High programs, and Gordon Hayward's Camp.
