John Cody - On-Field Director

John Cody enters his second season as offensive coordinator for the Kentucky State football program. He comes from Erskine College where he spent one season as the offensive line coach and director of football operations. In 2022, Erskine ranked #2 in Division II in red zone offense and decreased the sack total by 4 from the previous season.

Prior to Erskine, he served three seasons at LaGrange College. His first season as tight ends coach and the last two as offensive line and tight ends coach. During the 2021 season, he coached AFCA 2nd Team All-American tight end Dequeze Fryer. Also, that season, the LaGrange College offense ranked 1st in the USA South in fewest interceptions (6), 3rd in passing yards (2184), passing touchdowns (19), and passing yards per game (242.7), and fourth in total yards per game (334.7). He also decreased the sack total by 14 from the 2019 season.

Cody is originally from Thomson, GA, where he was a three-sport letterman at Thomson High School. A three-year starter for the football team, he was a two time all region selection and won 1 region championship. Upon graduation, he went on to sign with Berry College located in Rome, GA.

At Berry, Cody was a three-year starter for the football team. Over his four years the Vikings went 37-7, winning 3 straight conference championships (2016-2018) and making it two the 2nd round of the NCAA Division III National Championship Playoffs twice. A 3-time SAA All-Academic Team selection, he graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in exercise science with a minor in psychology.

Cody has also earned a Master’s degree in teaching from LaGrange College and Educational Specialist degree from Augusta University.

Cody is married to the former Alexis Fulton of Thomson, GA and they have one dog together, Gunner.
