Jon Burke
Co-Director
Jon Burke is the Director of Girls Water Polo and Co-Director of College Counseling at Stevenson School (CA), and the Co-Director of the Nike Water Polo Camp at Stevenson. With more than 25 years of coaching experience, Burke is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished high school water polo coaches in Northern California.
Throughout his career, Burke’s teams have won 13 CIF section championships, one CIF NorCal championship, and 15 league titles, while appearing in 15 CIF section finals and three NorCal finals. He is one of the few coaches to have led multiple programs to CIF section championships, including both Sacred Heart Prep and Stevenson School. At Stevenson, he has guided the program to CIF section titles in 2022, 2023, and 2025, as well as a CIF NorCal championship in 2023.
Burke has a strong track record of player development, having coached 18 high school All-Americans, eight CIF section MVPs, and helped more than 50 student-athletes advance to NCAA water polo programs, including multiple national team members and two Olympic champions. He has coached in Canada, Argentina, Croatia, Spain, and Hungary, and received the USA Water Polo - Pacific Zone - Doc Hunkler Award for excellence in scholastic coaching in 2024. Additionally he was recognized as the California High School Coach of the Year in 2017.
In addition to his coaching role, Burke brings a unique perspective as a college counselor, helping families navigate the recruiting and college admissions process. His holistic approach emphasizes skill development, game understanding, and character, creating an environment where athletes can grow with confidence and purpose.
