Joshua Mendoza

Joshua Mendoza holds a B.S. in Sport Entertainment from Johnson & Wales University and an M.B.A. from Florida Memorial University. A standout four-year starter at Johnson & Wales, he was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 before going on to a professional career in Peru with Regattas, Lima, and Osos De La Salle. He won back-to-back National Championships in 2018 and 2019, earning Finals MVP honors in both seasons.

Mendoza transitioned into coaching at Florida Memorial University, where he most recently served as Head Men’s Basketball Coach. During the 2025–2026 season, he led the program to an 18–11 record, including four wins over Top 25 opponents, a Top 40 NAIA RPI finish, and a Sun Conference playoff appearance. Previously, as Associate Head Coach, he helped guide the team to consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearances (2024 & 2025) and a combined 47–15 record, playing a key role in recruiting and developing championship-level talent.

He began his coaching career at FMU leading the Developmental Team, compiling a 76–36 record and winning two conference titles while helping expand recruiting regionally and nationally. Coach Mendoza has been involved in Nike Basketball Camps since 2023, working as a Head Coach at the first Nike Basketball Camp in the Miami area. In 2020, Mendoza founded Creation Basketball Academy, which has trained over 100 athletes and established partnerships with major organizations to create opportunities for youth in South Florida. The academy currently serves over 100 athletes across multiple locations and focuses on holistic player development.

Mendoza is also committed to community engagement, actively supporting initiatives that promote youth development, sportsmanship and academic success. We are very excited to have Coach Mendoza join our Nike coaching team as a Co-Camp Director!
