Julia Goodson

Assistant Women's Golf Coach, Washington State University

Julia Goodson - Assistant Women's Golf Coach, Washington State University

Washington State Women's Golf Head Coach Sofie Aagaard announced Thursday, July 20, 2023, the hiring of Julia Goodson as an assistant coach for the Cougars.

Goodson comes to the Palouse after spending the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach at East Tennessee State University, the school where she ended her collegiate playing career. The Buccaneers finished fourth at the 2023 Southern Conference Championship in her lone season as an assistant with ETSU.

"We are excited to welcome Julia as our new assistant coach to the Coug golf family," Aagaard expressed. "She comes to us with great experience from college play at both Kent State and ETSU. Most recently, she spent a year coaching at ETSU. She's had great mentors and coaches in her playing career with positive experiences that she will bring to us and add to our team. She has great knowledge of the game, having grown up in a golf family. Her father is the long-time head professional at Lake Forest Country Club in Hudson, Ohio. Not only with experience in play and competition, but Julia has also served as an assistant golf professional, teaching private lessons and instructing in golf clinics. Her positive energy and competitive personality will be a great addition to this golf program."

Goodson, a native of Hudson, Ohio, began her collegiate playing career at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. She competed for the Golden Flash between 2016-19. She graduted from KSU in 2020 before transferring to East Tennessee State as a graduate transfer prior to the 2020-21 season to conclude her career. At ETSU, Goodson earned All-Southern Conference honors and finished in a tie for seventh at the 2021 SoCon Championship. Her putt for par on her final hole clinched the 2021 SoCon Women's Golf Championship for the Buccaneers.
