Co-directing Camp this summer at Regis is former assistant women's lacrosse coach and current ‎psychology professor/sport psychologist Kate Hood. This is her eighth year directing the lacrosse camp at Regis.

Kate Hood finished her sixth season as assistant women's lacrosse coach at Regis in 2016, which followed a two year-stint as head field hockey and women's lacrosse coach at Simmons College, a Division III school in Boston, MA. The Rangers were 60-23 (.723) with Hood on their staff. In her last season, the Rangers set a record for wins in a season with 15 and maintained a national ranking throughout. They lost the conference championship by one goal to eventual national semi-finalists Lindenwood. Also in 2016, Regis achieved the conference Rookie of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year awards, as well as seven other All-RMAC player selections and three All-RMAC Academic selections.

The 2015 squad went 12-5 overall and 5-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Regis finished second in the conference and was consistently ranked in the IWLCA national polls throughout the entire season, ending at No. 18 with a high at No. 13. RU defeated nationally ranked Pfeiffer 15-13 on the road. Hood saw eight student-athletes named to an All-RMAC Team with Emily Behr being recognized as the RMAC Offensive Player of the Year. Seven Rangers were selected to All-RMAC Academic Teams, with four reaching First Team status, and Emily Elkins nabbing the RMAC Academic Player of the Year.

The Rangers completed the 2014 season with the program’s most successful season to date. Finishing the season at 14-3, the Rangers’ only three losses came to Division I or ranked opponents. The team achieved its first ever national poll rankings, ending the season at No. 15. The Rangers led the nation in caused turnovers per game, the third year in a row the team has led a statistical category. They also provided the nation’s 4th best goals against average on defense. Academically, the team was again awarded an IWLCA Honor Squad Award, and the IWLCA Division II Scholar-Athlete of the Year was a Ranger.

The Rangers completed the 2013 season with their second straight runner-up WILA Conference finish and had the second most wins in school history. The Rangers had one of the best offenses in the country and led the NCAA Division II in draw controls for the season year in a row. Hood guided RU to an 8-2 WILA record in 2013.

Following a record breaking season in 2011, she helped the Rangers in 2012 to a 9-8 record including a season finale win over No. 2 ranked Rollins College. The Rangers finished as runner-up in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) in 2012 while defeating two ranked teams, the first in school history.

In 2011, the Rangers took the inaugural WILA championship with a perfect 6-0 record. The Rangers lost just two games during the spring of 2011, one to a Top 10 team, while racking up 12 wins, which was at the time the most in school history.

Hood, previously Leonard, is a 2003 graduate of Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., where she majored in Psychology. She was an all-conference and IWLCA all-region lacrosse performer her senior season, leading the team to another NCAA Division III tournament. Her team was the 2000 NCAA Championship runner-up and 2001 ECAC Champion team. Hood scored 31 goals and added nine assists, tying for the team lead in goals her senior campaign. She was also a member of the Williams College field hockey team which was the 2x NESCAC championship team and qualified for the NCAA tournament every year she played. At Williams, Hood was also a two-time captain of the Division I alpine ski team. She qualified for the NCAA Championships in skiing and was an NCAA Division I Academic All-American. As a senior, Hood was the recipient of the college’s Kate Hogan 25th Anniversary of Women in Sports Award, Williams Alumnae Skiing Award, and the Chris Larson Mason Award.

Hood led Simmons College, a lacrosse program that she started, to a 6-6 record on the lacrosse field in its second season, 2010. Hood coached nine lacrosse all-conference athletes and two field hockey all-conference athletes in her two years at Simmons.

Kate has coaching experience in field hockey, lacrosse, and alpine skiing at the high school level as well. She has worked lacrosse camps since the year 2000. Hood earned her MA in Education from Tufts University and has a PsyD. in Sports and Performance Psychology. Hood lives in Dillon, CO with her husband and two children.
