Kate McCauley is the Head Men's Volleyball Coach and the Assistant to the Athletic Director at Saint Vincent College.

Kate McCauley was named the Saint Vincent College men's volleyball coach on Oct. 5, 2021.

In her second season as head coach 2023, the Bearcats had their most successful season in the program's short history. McCauley led the Bearcats to a program record 11 wins, going 11-10 overall with an 8-5 record in the AMCC. The Bearcats also qualified for the AMCC Tournament for the first time ever and scored their first ever tournament win, defeating Hilbert 3-0 in the first round before falling to top-seeded Penn State-Behrend in the semifinals.

McCauley helped Matthew Minkin to All-AMCC First Team honors, while also helping lead Shawn McSwiggen to the Newcomer of the Year award All-AMCC Second Team honors as well.

During the 2022 season, McCauley led the Bearcats to six wins, which was an increase from two wins in 2021, the second year of the programs establishment ... McCauley guided Junior outside hitter, Matthew Minkin to third team All-Allegheny Mountain Conference honors ... Minkin ranked fourth in the AMCC with an average of 3.30 digs per set, while his 2.16 digs per set ranked second on the team and ninth in the conference ... Minkin was the first player in the three year existence of the program to receive All-Conference honors.

McCauley, a 2015 Saint Vincent College graduate, has extensive volleyball coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school levels, while she has worked in various roles within the Saint Vincent athletic department, including being the manager of operations for the football team until the 2022 season. As manager of operations for the Saint Vincent football team, McCauley coordinated all day-to-day operations including scheduling, budgeting and travel.

Kate is also the current Manager of Gameday Operations for the Saint Vincent athletic department. She helps with operations of visiting teams and officials arriving on campus as well as overseeing all gameday operations during games on campus.

McCauley was an assistant coach for the Saint Vincent women's volleyball team for four seasons, from 2018-2021 where she assisted in conducting practices, game planning and recruiting while supervising the team’s strength and conditioning program.

From 2018-20, McCauley served a two-year stint as Assistant to the Athletic Director at Saint Vincent, funded through the NCAA’s Ethnic Minority and Women’s Grant. In this role, she served as the co-advisor of the Saint Vincent College’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), oversaw gameday management for football and men’s and women’s basketball, assisted the compliance director and assisted in all day-to-day operations of the Saint Vincent College Department of Athletics.

Additionally, during her tenure as assistant to the athletic director, McCauley was the assistant tournament director of the 2019 NCAA Division III National Volleyball Championship Tournament, hosted by Saint Vincent College at Duquesne University.

Prior to joining the Saint Vincent staff, McCauley served as head coach of the boys volleyball team at Gateway High School from 2016-18 and of the girls team at Greensburg Central Catholic from 2015-18. At GCC, she led the Centurions to the section, WPIAL and PIAA state championships in 2016, while the team was later named Westmoreland County’s Team of the Decade by the Westmoreland Sports Network.

McCauley began her coaching career with the Westmoreland Elite Volleyball Club, coaching ages 14-18 from 2010-19.

She graduated from Saint Vincent College in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and earning certification as an addiction specialist. As an undergraduate, McCauley was a four-year member of the Bearcat women’s volleyball team. A setter, she served as team captain during her 2014 senior season.

After graduating from Saint Vincent, McCauley earned an M.A. in coaching and administration from Concordia University of Irvine.

She is a native of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, and graduate of Norwin High School.
