Keaton koukis transylvania swim

Keaton Koukis is in her seventh season with the Transylvania swimming and diving program as the Associate Head Coach for the 2023-24 season and her 12th season overall with the program.

During Koukis’s time at Transylvania, 30 different individual and relay records have been rewritten along with 20 Conference Champions, 1 National Qualifier, and 1 NCAA Diving All-American. Koukis and the Pioneers reached new marks in the 2019-20 season when the Pioneer women’s swimming and diving team finished as the runner-up at the 2019-20 HCAC Swimming and Diving Championships; the Transylvania coaching staff was chosen as the Coaching Staff of the Year for HCAC women’s swimming and diving, the second that Koukis has been apart of.

Following the 2017-2018 season, the women’s swimming and diving team had the highest GPA in the country for Division III women’s swim and dive programs.

In her first season with Transylvania in 2012-13, Koukis served as the volunteer assistant before assuming the responsibilities of Recruiting Coordinator and Assistant Coach for the 2013-14 season.

During the 2013-2014 season, the Pioneers coaching staff was awarded the OAC Women’s coaching staff of the year award. In 2014-15, she took the reins as the full-time assistant for the Pioneers, the same season in which the Pioneers’ first female swimmer qualified for NCAA Division III Nationals for the first time in program history.

She then took over the program as Head Coach during the 2015-2016 and 2016-2017 season, two seasons where the Pioneers excelled both in the classroom and in the pool. In her first season as Head Coach (2015-2016), both the Men’s and Women’s teams received the CSCAA Academic All-America Award for maintaining above a 3.0 team GPA.

Koukis graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Wittenberg University, in Springfield, Ohio where she majored in biology and was a four-year letter winner for the Tigers. While at Wittenberg, she became the school record holder in the 100 and 200 butterfly, and in her senior year she was named women’s team captain and was an NCAA National Qualifier/All-American as a member of the 200 medley relay.

Koukis graduated from Wittenberg University in 2012 with a bachelor degree in Biology. While at Wittenberg, she was a 4 year member of the swim and dive team, where she held 2 school records (100 and 200 butterfly), and was a member of the 200 Medley Relay that placed 12th at the 2012 NCAA National Championship meet. In her senior year she was named women’s team captain and was an NCAA National Qualifier/All-American as a member of the 200 medley relay.

A Peachtree City, Georgia native, Koukis and her husband reside in Lexington with their two daughters.
