Kelly Stinnett
Kelly Stinnett is the first baseball coach in Benedictine University at Mesa history and will take over a program that will begin play in the NAIA during the 2016-17 season.
Stinnett immediately brings a wealth of knowledge and credibility to the baseball program. He was a catcher in the major leagues for 14 years with eight different teams - New York Mets, Arizona Diamondbacks, St. Louis Cardinals, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies - with a career batting average of .234 and 65 career home runs.
Stinnett also has coaching experience, serving as the Arizona Diamondbacks Rookie-A Ball manager during the 2010-11 season, managing the Montezuma Federals of the Freedom Pro Baseball League in 2013 and coaching the Watertown Bucks in the North County Baseball League in 2015.
Stinnett also manages the Arizona Grinders club baseball programs, which he started in 2011 and continues to run today.
