Elizabeth Evans enters her 11th year as jumps coach for the Fightin' Engineer track and field teams in the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Evans works extensively with the Rose-Hulman jumpers and has had successful athletes on the academic side along with at the National level.

The 2022 season featured Rofiat Adeyemi earning HCAC Jumps Athlete of the Year honors both indoors and outdoors. Adeyemi set school records in both the outdoor long jump and triple jump events. Kyle Brownell added All-American honors in the high jump at the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships with a 7th place finish after setting a new school record of 6' 9" during the outdoor season.

Three jumper athletes have achieved four Academic All-American Awards including: Brendan Smyth 2016-2017, Christine Harper 2017, and Gabriele Razma 2017. Evans’ efforts have supported three athletes to achieve 6 All-American Awards including: Trey Sykes (7th Place - 48'6" Triple Jump 2016, 5th Place - 48'2" Triple Jump 2017, 4th Place - 49'7.75" Triple Jump 2018), Jaclyn Setina (5th place - 5'6" High jump 2018), Blake Schulthies (7th place Decathlon - 2015) and Kyle Brownell (7th place High Jump - 2022).

At the Conference level, Evans has been part of the successful reign that Rose-Hulman has seen. In the previous 9 years, Evans has had 36 Conference Event Champions in the jumps. In 2021, Evans’ squad took 8 titles and generated 48 and 47.5 points for the Indoor Men and Women’s along with 63 and 60 points for the Outdoor Men’s and Women’s.

Evans’ male jumpers have begun writing their names in the record book while her female jumpers have started their own record book. For school records, the men have obtained 2 of the 6 while the women have achieved 3 of the 6. According to the Top 3 All-Time List, the men have achieved 4 of the 18 spots while the women have obtained 12 of the 18. The women have filled in nearly every spot that their Coach Evans doesn’t still have.

Evans’ background includes North Knox High School in Bicknell Indiana before attending Rose-Hulman for three of her four college degrees (EE ‘13, MA ’13, EM '15). During her time on the Track and Field team, she holds 5 D3 National Champion Titles (High Jump), 8 All-American Awards, 5 Athlete of the Year Awards (Great Lakes Region), 3 Academic All-American Awards, 16 Conference Champion Event Titles, 6 Most Outstanding Female Field Athlete Awards, 3 Conference Event Records, and 8 Rose-Hulman School records.

Evans achieved the distinction of Best Division III High Jump Athlete by becoming the first Division III athlete to clear 6-feet in the high jump. Evans’ senior year at Rose adjusted that height on 4 different occasions. This bolstered her drive to continue athletics at a professional level after college where she has competed at 15 USATF National Championships to record a new PR of 1.90m (6’2.75") while placing 5th at the Olympic Trials in 2021 and being in the top 40 in the world.
