Maciej Sliwinski

Maciej Sliwinski joined the Elon men’s soccer coaching staff in March of 2017 after serving as a member of the coaching staff at Fairfield University the past two seasons, including as associate head coach in 2016. He was elevated to the role of associate head coach at Elon in May of 2018...

In his first season with the Phoenix in 2017, Sliwinski helped the maroon and gold reach the CAA postseason for the fourth straight year while also assisting in Elon being one of the top teams in the country in goals against average, shutouts and save percentage. Five players earned All-CAA honors while two more earned NCAA Scholar All-Region accolades from the United Soccer Coaches Association.

Prior to Fairfield, Sliwinski was a member of Elon head coach Marc Reeves' coaching staff for five seasons at Radford. While at Radford, Sliwinski helped the Highlanders to 47 wins including double-digit win totals in 2014 (12) and 2012 (10). Under his tutelage, Radford led the nation in goals against average (0.88) in 2014 which helped the team set the longest winning streak in the nation at seven games and the longest unbeaten streak at 11 contests.

Academically, Radford produced the Big South Scholar Athlete of the Year a year ago and earned a team GPA award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for five straight seasons. The program also boasted four Academic All-Americans over his final three seasons.

Sliwinski also served as an assistant coach at Lafayette, helping the Leopards to a 10-7-2 overall record and a trip to the Patriot League semifinals in 2009. He also worked two seasons with Reeves at St. John’s University in 2007 and 2008 as a member of head coach Dr. Dave Masur’s coaching staff where St. John’s earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the national semifinals with a 19-3-3 overall record.

A native of Poland, Sliwinski played four seasons at Iona College where he was a two-year captain and was a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic team. During his time at Iona, he interned with the New York Red Bulls where he assisted in team operations and game preparation.

Sliwinski earned his undergraduate degree in finance and later added a master’s degree in sports management from St. John’s University. He also has experience outside of the college game, serving as the Director of Coaching with the Brooklyn Italians.
