Malia Shimabukuro
Malia Shimabukuro has served as Midland University’s head women’s lacrosse coach since 2019. Shimabukuro is a Midland alumna and has been on staff since and even before her graduation in 2017.
Shimabukuro has had many roles and titles at Midland University, including being a Resident Advisor (2016-17), assistant women’s lacrosse coach (2018), assistant women’s hockey coach (2017-19), Residence Hall Director (2017-2019), Senior Residence Hall Director (2018-2019), and Residence Life Professional Coordinator (2019-present).
While at Midland, Shimabukuro was active as a women’s lacrosse and women’s hockey player, and was named a team captain of both squads during her career. In 2017, she was named a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American in hockey and a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Scholar-Athlete in lacrosse.
She graduated from Midland University with Summa Cum Laude honors in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, K-8 with an Endorsement in Coaching.
