Mandy Santos

Mandy Santos

Mandy Santos joined the Golden Bears in the fall of 2013 as the team’s volunteer assistant coach.

With a former competitive fastpitch player for a father, Santos was practically born with a softball in her hand. She began playing at five years old, and played competitively through high school as a shortstop and catcher until an injury sidelined her from the game and ended her hopes of pursuing a collegiate softball career.

From 1992 to 2011 Santos enjoyed a successful corporate career where she worked in a number of management positions and oversaw staffing and resources in fields including project and client management, reverse logistics, distribution and service operations.

Despite her prosperous corporate career, Santos always felt that something was missing. In 2004, she formally joined the coaching staff of her alma mater – Archbishop Mitty High School. She attended her first Women’s College World Series in 2008 as a spectator and from then on set her sights on a second career as a coach.

Santos left her corporate career in 2011 to join the staff at Presentation High School in San Jose, where she served as Assistant Athletic Director and head varsity softball coach. She managed 11 sports across 25 teams, and oversaw booster activities and concessions plus coaching staff evaluation. Throughout this time, Santos assisted California head coach Diane Ninemire during summer camps and clinics and helped 12 of her high school athletes, including former Oklahoma standout Keilani Ricketts, to NCAA Division I programs.

Santos is currently pursuing a degree with the University of Phoenix.
