Margaret Zagrobelny joined the Blue Jay coaching staff in September 2018. She came to Baltimore from Susquehanna, where she spent 2017-18 as an assistant swim coach and aquatics director. She was promoted to Associate Head Coach in June 2022.

In her first season at Homewood, Zagrobelny helped the Blue Jay men to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Championships as JHU produced 37 All-Americans. The Hopkins women took 13th place and produced 24 All-Americans.

The 2020 and 2021 NCAA Championships were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the Blue Jay women combined for 36 CSCAA All-America honors in 2020 and four in 2021. The men produced 21 All-Americans in 2020 and 31 in 2021.

In 2022, the Johns Hopkins men finished as the national runner-up and produced 40 All-Americans. The women placed ninth and garnered 32 All-America honors. In addition, Kellen Roddy and Kristin Cornish swept the NCAA titles in the 1650 Free.

In April 2022, Zagrobelny was one of six recipients of the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Jean Freeman Scholarship. The scholarships are given annually to assistant coaches whose exceptional contributions have brought recognition to their college or university, and whose leadership, integrity, honesty, competitive attitude and personal graciousness epitomize those characteristics reflected by Jean Freeman, longtime women's swimming coach at the University of Minnesota.

Zagrobelny is a 2017 graduate of John Carroll, where she was a four-year member of the swim team. She led the Blue Streaks to the 2017 OAC Championship, the program's first since 2008. She was a member of the record-setting 200 Medley Relay team and finished third in the 100 Back at the 2017 championships. She earned All-OAC honors five times in her career and won three OAC titles.

Zagrobelny helped the Susquehanna women's team to its eighth straight Landmark Conference Championship and a strong runner-up finish for the men. She assisted head coach Jerry Foley in all aspects of the program, including coaching, recruiting, strength and conditioning and alumni relations. As Aquatics Director, she managed all pool-related operations.
