Mark Robichaud

Mark Robichaud enters his 11th season as head coach of the UMass Dartmouth football program. Robichaud was named the third football coach in program history in 2007.

Over the past ten seasons, Robichaud has coached a total of 49 all-conference selections, including the 2016 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Offensive Player of the Year in Eddie Sheridan. Last season, ten Corsairs received all-conference honors, including Austin Peters. This past March, Pat Sullivan capped off his decorated collegiate football-playing career as the recipient of the 2017 Jack Daly Award for Academics, Citizenship and Football – the first ever individual from UMass Dartmouth to be achieve this honor. In addition, Sullivan beame UMass Dartmouth’s first All-American since 1998, earning the accolades from D3football.com and the AFCA.

The Corsairs pride themselves on the fulfillment of the Division III philosophy, providing student-athletes with a well-rounded educational and athletic experience. Under his direction, UMass Dartmouth received a total of 100 All-Academic Team citations. The 2016 season proved to be especially productive in the classroom, as the Fall term alone accounted for 31 total selections.

In UMass Dartmouth’s most recent season, the football program posted a 5-5 record, a one win-improvement from the 2014 and 2015 campaigns. After splitting its first four games of last year, the Corsairs defended their home turf in a thrilling 35-34 overtime victory against Framingham State. After gaining momentum with their first pair of back-to-back wins against Worcester State and Mass. Maritime, the team fell to Western Connecticut and Fitchburg State in its final two battles. UMass Dartmouth came in tied for 4th in the MASCAC standings.

Prior to joining the Corsair coaching staff, Robichaud served as an assistant coach at Bishop Stang High School since 2004. During his tenure with the Spartans, Bishop Stang captured two Eastern Athletic Conference championships, two Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff berths, and an appearance in the 2005 MIAA Superbowl.

In 1992, Robichaud began a nine-year stretch at Shepard Universty, a NCAA Division II perennial power in West Virginia, serving as defensive line coach, recruiting coordinator, and athletic-academic advisor. Robichaud helped the Rams compile an overall record of 54-31 (.635), eight winning seasons, five West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, and three NCAA Division II tournament appearances, including advancing to the second round twice.

Robichaud, a 1985 graduate of Springfield College, sandwiched a pair of stints at his alma mater around a stop at Milford Academy. He also served as the inside linebacker at Wesleyan University (Conn.) before accepting the defensive coordinator post at the University of Chicago. Robichaud also gained valuable experience as an assistant coach at Division I Brown University during the 2000 season.

Robichaud and his wife, Tricia, reside in Little Compton, R.I. and are the proud parents of Erik and Kara.
