Matias Velazquez

Matias was born in Argentina but spent most of his childhood playing and developing his skills and passion for soccer in Paraguay where his parents are from. At the age of 14, he migrated to New York City where he spent most of his playing career and started his coaching journey. He played soccer for Flushing High school and played in College representing Queens College, Division II.

During his playing career, he represented the U.S Futsal team in international competitions. Matias began his coaching career soon after where he learned from great mentors in the Tri-state area. Soon after, he spent 5 years working with one of the best youth development academies in the nation, NY Redbulls. Matias worked for the New York RedBulls youth programs leading camps and clinics in Long Island. Meanwhile at Red Bulls, he earned multiple coaching credentials. He currently holds his USSF C license and UEFA B License from Germany DFB. In addition, Matias launched his own soccer academy, “Matigol7 '' to serve the children in his community, hosting afterschool and weekend competitions.

Matias main goal is to help players develop and improve their skills focusing on the main pillars of the game: physical, tactical, technical and psychological. Training sessions are designed focusing on these pillars of the game and also on providing players with the confidence, skills and knowledge necessary to be successful on and off the field.
