Coach Matt Lincoln begins his 7th year at Chandler High School working with the Wolves cross country and distance teams. During his first 6 seasons at Chandler, the Wolves squads have won 10 state championships. He was named USTFCCCA Girls cross country coach of the year for Arizona in 2015 and the NFHS Arizona and West Sectional girls cross country coach of the year in 2017. Under his watch, the school records in cross country and distance events have been broken 34 times and the girls 4x800m have won 4 straight state championships.

Lincoln attended Penn State University from 2001-2006 where he earned a degree in Kinesiology and a teaching certification in Health and Physical Education. He set 3 school records at Penn State, earned 8 Academic All-BigTen honors and was named to the NCAA All-Academic team in 2006. He was named captain of the cross country team in 2004 and 2005 and captain of the track and field team in 2006.

Upon graduating, Lincoln, ran professionally from 2007-2013 with the Canadian National team. He finished 3rd at the 2004 Olympic trials, 8th at the World University games in the 1500m in 2007, received a bronze medal in the 1500m at the 2009 Francophone Games and placed 4th and 5th at the 2012 Olympic trials in the 800m and 1500m, respectively. Lincoln has run sub four minutes for the mile and owns PR’s of 1:48.37 for 800m and 3:38.44 for 1500m. He holds the Canadian record in the Indoor and Outdoor 4x800m and the Distance Medley Relay.

Coach Lincoln is a certified USATF level 2, endurance coach and was an assistant coach with Phoenix Athletics track club in Toronto from 2007-2010. He also coached a grass roots track and field program in Canada for two years (2008-2009).
