Mauro "Goose" Gozzo

Mauro “Goose” Gozzo is entering his fifth year as the manager for Gastonia, with him set to manage the newly named “Ghost Peppers” in 2025. With Gozzo at the helm, Gastonia has gone 304-200 in four years, which totals a .603 winning percentage. Gozzo is the only active manager in the Atlantic League to have recorded multiple 80+ win seasons and is the only manager in ALPB history to win Manager of the Year in back-to-back seasons (‘22, ‘23).
Under Gozzo, Gastonia achieved the highest winning percentage in a three-year span in league history, going .651 from 2022-24. Gozzo’s “Baseball Club” in 2024 recorded the best winning percentage in a single half in the league’s 26 years of existence, claiming 73% of games in the opening half. Before his time with Gastonia, Gozzo served as pitching coach for the New Britain Bees in 2018, and he became the manager of the Bees for the 2019 season. Prior to coaching in the ALPB, Gozzo pitched for six years in Major League Baseball. Gozzo spent time with the Blue Jays, Indians, Twins and Mets in the big leagues from 1989-1994.
