Before moving to Omaha, Melanie Chapman coached several triathlon and endurance athletes in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She was a graduate assistant at both University of Alberta and Laurentian University working with women’s indoor track and cross-country running teams.

Most recently, she was the assistant coach for the outdoor track and field, middle and long distance program at Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School and VP of Team Nebraska Triathlon. Chapman is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Public Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where she combines her athletic passion which academics. Her research area focuses on public policy and policy communities related to physical activity promotion, as well as broader policy issues in community health including, health education, coalitions and partnerships, community building, and leadership and advocacy. Melanie is a Certified USA Triathlon Coach, US Masters Swimming Coach, and received her Athletics (Track and Field) Certification via the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) in Canada. She was a four-time Academic All-Canadian in varsity cross-country running at Laurentian University and is currently training for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in South Africa this September.
