Coach Profile

Camp Director

Melanie Salter

Melanie Salter has recently joined the Trojans after previously coaching the Marina Aquatic Center Junior Rowing Novice Women's team for 12 years. Her crews won the Novice Women's 8 at the 2016 and 2017 San Diego Crew Classic. Additionally, Salter coached her teams to a medal each year over the last 10 years at the Southwest Regionals.

"Rowing as a sport has been called the ultimate team exercise and, across many levels of involvement, has often maintained its connection to providing opportunities for walk-on athletes," said Adam. "When it came to looking for a coach with the expertise to provide these opportunities for USC walk-on prospects, Melanie stood out as a great fit. Her excitement to teach young athletes a new sport has been contagious in the years I have known her. Having this enthusiasm around the USC Rowing family will be invaluable."

Over the summer, Salter was an associate head coach at the Row West Racing Camp for high school girls. Her crews finished with the U19 4+ gold medal, U19 8+ bronze medal and the U10 2- bronze medal at the 2017 Club National Championships.

Salter also coached at the Penn AC Gold summer camp as the Junior Women's Head Coach for the summers of 2015 and 2016. She was also a U.S. Junior National Team Development Camp Assistant Coach summer of 2013.

Salter graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in history and a Masters in Education from Loyola Marymount. She rowed at UCLA and medaled in the 2V8+ at the Pac-10 Championships. In addition, she was a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention.
