Michael Dedee

Camp Director

Michael Dedee - Camp Director

Mike Dedee was named the first head coach of the Roberts Wesleyan men’s volleyball program in May 2023 and immediately began building a nationally competitive program for the Redhawks.

The first season saw Roberts win three of the four matches in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Invitational Tournament and the Redhawks were crowned the tournament champions. In the second season, the team won a dozen matches and advanced to the championship match of the East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament and earned an invitation to the NCCAA National Championship Tournament in Illinois where Roberts finished second overall.

The third season saw continued growth and success with a 20-win season and the ECC regular season and conference championship victories.

Dedee earned a third consecutive ECC Coach of the Year award and was also named the NCCAA Regional and National Coach of the Year.

Under his guidance, Redhawk players won three NCCAA All-American Awards and a pair of American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/NCCAA All-American Honors. The team garnered ECC Awards for Rookie, Libero and Setter of the Year and senior Moises Jimenez was named the ECC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

With four players earning All-ECC honors in 2026, the total number of All-Conference awards under Dedee is now 13. Multiple players have earned National Player of the Week awards and in 2026, junior Paul Fillion was named the NCCAA Game Plan 4 Life National Award winner.

Dedee’s philosophy is to ensure that the young men at Roberts Wesleyan University receive valuable life lessons on the court that can be applied to the sport of volleyball but also work, school, relationships and more. He is also passionate about being a teacher that helps the team be competitive, but also be the best people they can while at Roberts and for a long time thereafter.

Dedee has an extensive volleyball resume that includes playing volleyball since high school. He enjoyed a standout volleyball career playing club volleyball for Rochester Pace Volleyball Club, professional beach volleyball, and playing at Genesee Community College in Batavia before moving on to play at Division I University of California at Irvine. Dedee earned his Bachelor’s degree in psychology from UC Irvine and his Master’s in social work from the University of California, Long Beach. Dedee spent several years in the social work field.

Dedee has recruited and coached many players who have later joined Division I, II and III teams. Prior to coming to Roberts, Dedee coached for Webster High School as the Junior Varsity Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach, including 2022 when they made it to the State Finals. He continues to coach for Rochester Pace Volleyball Club (since 2015) at various ages including coaching a 14U team to No.5 in the country in 2019 and winning various tournaments. Dedee is a Gold Medal Squared (GMS) Certified Coach. In addition, he was named the Associate Head Coach for the Western Empire Volleyball Association (WEVA) U17 All Stars in 2024 and Head Coach for the same team in 2025 which took second place.

Dedee also works on campus as the Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking Grant Project Director and is also a professional magician. He lives in Webster with his wife, Tracey. They have two sons, Michael and Matthew.
