Michael Kerr - Camp Director

Michael Kerr enters his fourth year directing and coaching Nike Basketball Camps in the New York City area. He has a wealth of playing and coaching experience from which he contributes to the development of young aspiring players in the community. Coach Kerr holds a Master's Degree in Physical Education and is currently in his 18th year working as a High School Phys Ed teacher in the NYC Department of Education.

Coach Kerr has been involved with playing and coaching basketball throughout his entire life. Originally from and still living in the New York City area, Kerr played basketball both in high school and college and spent 19 years coaching at the collegiate level. His coaching career began in 1995 as an assistant at Division II Molloy College in Long Island. After seven seasons he moved on to Adelphi University, also a Division II school. While at Adelphi, Kerr was able to help bring teams to the NCAA tournament on numerous occasions. In 2007, Kerr became a Head Coach at the Junior College level at Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC. In just three seasons at FIT, Kerr was awarded the Conference Coach of the Year twice and guided his team to a #2 National Ranking. Kerr then coached at Borough of Manhattan CC for three more seasons. During his tenure as a Head Coach in Junior College, he helped develop and place numerous student-athletes in senior colleges, many of which receiving scholarships and professional contracts.

After wrapping up his coaching career, Kerr wished to continue to help younger players by imparting his lifetime of basketball knowledge. Over the past five years, he has been able to stay involved in basketball in several ways. Besides his experience with Nike Basketball Camps, he has been broadcasting college games at various colleges in the NYC area.
