Mike Bahun

Mike Bahun comes to Columbus after completing his second stint on the Creighton coaching staff. He was the director of player development in 2020 and 2021 after serving as a volunteer assistant in 2004 during head coach Ed Servais’ first season at the helm. Bahun’s is a coaching veteran at both the collegiate and high school ranks.

Bahun was highly successful as an athlete, claiming a Third Team NJCAA All-American nod and was named the Mid-West Regional Player of the Year at Iowa Western in 1995. He then went to Iowa State and earned Second Team All-Big 8 honors while being the Cyclones offensive player of the year as a junior in 1996.

Inducted into the Omaha Public Schools Hall of Fame in the fall of 2019, Bahun was a three-sport athlete at Bryan high school. With the Bears, Bahun was a Converse High School All-American, a National High School Baseball Coaches Association All-District selection and collected All-Nebraska honors. On the diamond he led the state in batting average. Also competing in wrestling and football, Bahun earned a combined 11 letters. A metro wrestling and district champion who broke the Nebraska state record for takedowns, Bahun turned down a wrestling offer from Clemson to pursue his baseball aspirations.

Bahun earned a bachelor’s in exercise science degree from Bellevue University in 1997 and then earned his master’s in business in 1999.
