Mike Cannon enters his second season on staff at Missouri Valley College as the Offensive Line coach and was recently promoted to Offensive Coordinator. Prior to his arrival at MVC, Cannon spent two seasons at Dodge City Community College football. He was appointed as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Cannon comes from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. At NEO, Cannon had four All-Conference Offensive Lineman. Prior to that, Coach Cannon was at Langston University where he served as the offensive Line coach, run game coordinator and recruiting coordinator. Cannon brings over ten years of coaching experience which includes coaching dominance at the NCAA DI and DII levels. He currently holds a Bachelor’s of Arts and Science in Criminology from the University of New Mexico.

Cannon hails from the University of New Mexico where he played from 2006-2010. He was recognized as a senior captain in 2010 and was a member of the Mountain West All-Conference and All-Academic teams. Cannon continued his playing career overseas for the Kragujevacs Wild Boards out of Kragujevacs, Serbia.

At the collegiate level, Cannon coached at NCAA DI Northwestern State in 2014 as an assistant, offensive line coach, Cannon mentored two All-Southland Conference selections, including Pace Murphy who was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams.

In 2012 and 2013, at NCAA DII Valdosta State, he was the tight end’s coach where they won the Gulf South Conference and NCAA DII National championship. In 2011 he served as the tackles and tight end’s coach at NCAA DII Midwestern State where they won the Lone Star Conference and had an appearance in the DII NCAA Tournament.

In 2015, Cannon coached at Santa Fe High School and Durant High School as the offensive line coach; during his tenure at Santa Fe High School they were able to win their district, regional championships and compete in the state championship game in the state of Florida.

Prior to his arrival at Langston, Cannon served as the offensive line coach at his alma mater Durant Senior High School in Plant City, Florida, where he was instrumental in helping them to an undefeated regular season and win a District championship. The first-year coach began his coaching year at Durant Senior High School as the offensive line coach.


At Langston University Cannon complied a 19-3 record in two seasons as the Run Game Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator. Langston became known nationally by boasting the best and most efficient run game in NAIA in 2018. He mentored many all-conference honorees and one NAIA All-American, CJ Carrillo. Carrillo was widely regarded as the strongest offensive lineman in the nation. In 2018, Langston University led the NAIA in yards per play with a 7.65 average and was number two Nationally in total offense on the year.
