Morgan Coberly

Co-Director

Morgan Coberly - Co-Director

Morgan Coberly is the Assistant Volleyball Coach at Claremont McKenna College.

Coberly enters his 16th season coaching the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps women's team in the 2020-21 year. For his efforts during the 2014 season, the AVCA named Morgan as the Division III National Assistant Coach of the Year. Morgan was also the Varsity coach at Bonita High School from 2003-07 where his teams won the League Championship in four of his five seasons and reached the CIF semi-final in '07. In his final season as Bonita, Morgan was named both the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, and San Gabriel Valley Tribune Volleyball Coach of the Year. Morgan was also named the 2003 All Sports Show Inland Empire High School Volleyball Coach of the Year. He is now the Club Director for Forza 1 Volleyall Club in Ontario, CA.

As a junior player Morgan played in seven Junior Olympics for the Boulder Volleyball Club. He played college volleyball for the University of La Verne where he was captain and starting setter for their 1998 National Final Four Runner Up team. Morgan finished his senior season at La Verne as the school’s All-Time Career Assist Leader and was an Asics First Team College All-American, as well as being selected to the 1998 National Final Four All-Tournament Team.

After Morgan finished his playing career at La Verne, he stayed on as an assistant coach for the men’s program under his father, Jack Coberly, winning a National Championship in 1999, and coaching teams to Final Four appearances in 2002 and 2003. In 2004, Morgan took over as head coach of La Verne leading his team to a top 5 national ranking. Although the program was cut after the 2004 season, La Verne’s men’s teams made four Final Four appearances and were never ranked outside the top 10 in the national rankings during Morgan’s playing and coaching days.

Morgan spent 10 seasons with Club West, and three seasons as the Director of Club West. In 2013 Morgan will Head Coach the 11 National team and serve as an assistant coach of the 18 National and 16 National teams. Morgan’s 12 National teams have finished in the top five in the region five times in eight years and twice finished in the top 10 nationally, as well as winning the gold medal at the Junior Olympic Championships in 2010 and 2012.
