Paul Karver

Paul Karver brings nearly two decades of collegiate coaching experience and a proven record of building competitive, player‑centered programs to the Nike Soccer Camp at George Fox University. A respected leader and educator of the game, Karver is known for his ability to develop technically sound players, foster strong team culture, and help young athletes grow both on and off the field. His sessions emphasize confidence, creativity, and a deep understanding of the game, hallmarks of his coaching philosophy at every level.

Karver has served as the head men’s soccer coach at George Fox University after rising through the collegiate ranks as both an assistant and interim head coach. Under his leadership, the Bruins experienced one of the most successful seasons in program history, highlighted by a top conference finish and a dramatic competitive resurgence. His ability to elevate programs and maximize player potential has made him a trusted figure within NCAA soccer circles.

With 17 years of experience coaching NCAA programs, Karver has earned a reputation as a strong recruiter, culture‑builder, and mentor. He holds a prestigious USSF “A” License, along with additional USSF adult coaching and goalkeeping certifications, reflecting his comprehensive knowledge of player development across all positions.

Prior to his role at George Fox, Karver helped guide a rebuilding collegiate program in California before moving to Oregon to work within the Portland Timbers organization, further expanding his experience in high‑performance player development environments. His coaching journey also includes an earlier stint at George Fox University, where he worked closely with goalkeepers, giving him a deep and lasting connection to the Bruin soccer community.

As a former collegiate student‑athlete at the University of Redlands, Karver understands firsthand the demands and rewards of competitive soccer. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and later completed a master’s degree in higher education administration, reinforcing his commitment to developing the whole athlete, academically, athletically, and personally.

At camp, Coach Karver brings the same passion, structure, and attention to detail that define his collegiate programs, creating a fun, challenging, and supportive environment where young players are inspired to learn, compete, and love the game.
