Raul Zuiga

Luis R. Zúñiga enters his third season as Assistant Coach of the Men’s Soccer Program at Washington Adventist University. Coach Zúñiga brings over 25 years of coaching and recruiting experience in the DMV. He is an energetic soccer professional with demonstrated excellence in coaching and motivating teams to perform at the next level.

Coach Zúñiga is passionate about educating and inspiring team members to seize their athletic potential while being poised under pressure. In addition, he brings a passion for the game that generates solutions and innovations through team collaboration. Before Washington Adventist University, Coach Zúñiga began his collegiate coaching career as an unpaid assistant coach at Howard University, where he learned the college game from an amazing staff in place.

Before coaching at Howard University, Coach Zúñiga served as the Head coach and President for MD Alliance FC, Coached at Bethesda Soccer Club, and was Director of Recruiting Pachuca FC USA. In addition, he has coached youth teams and collegiate alike, with some of his teams ranking within the Top 10 in the nation, in NPL and EDP Top Divisions and Region 1. Coach Zúñiga has training skills that allow him to work with players on their strengths and weaknesses and develop customized training sessions for a single player or the team as a whole. He has a unique combination of abilities of substantial education and commitment, demonstrating consistent success in helping the team achieve its goals. While working with players who love the sport, Coach Zúñiga stresses teamwork, fun, and a high-energy environment. In addition, the soccer experience, knowledge, and love for the game will allow Coach Zúñiga to be a successful addition to the Washington Adventist University Men’s Soccer Program.
