Ron Oliver

Ron Oliver, M.Ed., currently in his sixth year as Head Basketball Coach at NSU University School, brings over 25 years of coaching expertise at the collegiate and professional levels. With a Master’s in Education focused on Athletic Coaching and a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan, where he was a 4-year letterman and recipient of the 1999 Thad Garner Leadership Award, Coach Oliver combines academic rigor with practical experience.
Coach Oliver’s 12-year NBA tenure includes roles as Assistant Coach and Video Coordinator with the Philadelphia 76ers (2011-2014), Detroit Pistons (1999-2003, 2007-2009), Indiana Pacers (2004-2007), and Toronto Raptors (2003-2004). He worked under renowned coaches like Rick Carlisle and Alvin Gentry, contributing to scouting reports, game plans, team practices, and pre-draft workouts to optimize athletic performance.
Before NSU, Coach Oliver served at Florida Atlantic University from 2014 to 2019, starting as Director of Basketball Operations and later promoted to Assistant Coach in 2016. He also held the role of Director of First-Generation Student Success, fostering an inclusive campus environment for low-income and first-generation students. Prior to FAU, he was Director of Basketball Operations at Ball State University (2010-2011), where the team achieved a 19-13 record, and an Advance Scout for the Philadelphia 76ers (2011-2014).
Known for dynamic leadership, Coach Oliver excels in team development, mentoring, and program coordination. At Nike Basketball Camp, he leverages his extensive experience to inspire and train young athletes, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and a safety-conscious approach to coaching.
