Bubb, a team captain in 2014, was also a two-time Ohio State Scholar-Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten team selection. He ranks in the top 10 in numerous events in the Ohio State all-time record books.

In high school, Bubb was a five-time Nebraska State Champion and broke two state records during his career at Lincoln East High School. In 2010, he was a member of the U18 USA National Team that competed in Barcelona, Spain. He also finished in 3rd place in the 50-meter Freestyle event at the United States Junior National Championships in 2009.

Bubb graduated from Ohio State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Art and Technology.
