Sam Heafield

Sam has been a goalkeeper since he was 6 and has carried on playing in goal to this day. He has represented his county at school boy level and Plymouth Argyle youth Development.

He started his coaching career at Plymouth Argyle youth Development when he was 16 and continued coaching there until he went to Southampton Solent University where he studied, coaching, management, analysis and the business side of football. He graduated in 2014 and returned to the Development centre which had now been taken over by Southampton F.C. He spent the next two years coaching at the Center and enjoyed developing local players and watching them progress into a professional set up.

In 2017 Sam decided to set up his own goalkeeper academy and teamed up with Gkicon to deliver weekly goalkeeper coaching sessions along with 1-1 sessions. Because goalkeeping is such a specific position Sam felt that the goalkeepers in his local area needed the extra training because they were getting neglected at club level and he wanted to highlight the importance of goalkeeping. The academy has been running ever since and is producing some very promising goalkeepers.
