Scott Nestor

Scott Nestor was hired by Coach Mulvey in Fall 2021 as the volunteer assistant coach at Villanova. In his role with the Wildcats coach Nestor works specifically with the catchers and assists the Wildcat offense.

Prior to Villanova, Coach Nestor was the Hitting coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Savannah State University in Savannah, GA. In his first season he helped lead the Tigers to their first winning season since 2013. The Tigers were ranked in the top 50 in Division II offensive statistics in multiple team and individual leader boards; 35th in team Batting Avg (.315), 4th in team OBP (.450), 2nd in team stolen bases per game (3.43), 5th in runs per game (9.9).

Individual leaders; Batting Average, DJ Franklin 37th (.410) On Base Percentage, DJ Franklin 6th (.563) Phillip Woullard 34th (.512) Base on Balls per Game, Luis Lamarche 10th, Gabriel Patxot 29th, DJ Franklin 43rd Phillip Woullard 43rd.

Savannah State University was also awarded the top seed in the inaugural HBCU World Series in Montgomery, AL.

Before his role at SSU, coach Nestor was hired as an assistant baseball coach at Rochester College in 2013 to be the programs pitching coach. Along with turning around a program that won 9 games in the season prior to his arrival, the Warriors made back to back small college world series appearances in 2014 and 2015. Nestor also developed seven USCAA academic All-Americans and the 2015 USCAA Student Athlete of the year.

In 2012, Nestor was hired as the head coach for the junior varsity team at Seaholm High School in Birmingham, Michigan. His role was to develop young athletes to compete for the High School’s varsity program. Seaholm’s team had a 31-11 record through two seasons under Nestor.

Scott began his coaching career as an instructor at the Varsity Shop Training Center in Bloomfield, MI. throughout his time at the training center he also served as facility supervisor, youth camp director, and coordinator of Development. Simultaneously, he also coached and worked as the Director of Operations for the Oakland Bulldogs Baseball program out of Rochester, MI. During his time with the program he assisted in the development of over 120 student athletes to continue their academic and playing careers at the college level and 9 players would make it to the professional ranks.
