Shane Carnes

Shane Carnes has been mentoring youth for over 10 years and founded Hoops Avenue in 2008, an organization which focuses on developing student athletes for success, both on and off the court. He currently is a coach for The Travelers, a Nike EYBL team, formerly known as the TN Travelers and a 2013 & 2014 Peach Jam Qualifier.

Shane holds an impressive record on the court as well. He was the starting PG on the 1994 National Champions, Oak Hill Academy team, and was also a starting Basketball player at the University of Tennessee, where he remains tied second for the all-time 3pt goals rank for a freshman with 52 3-pters. He is only surpassed by Allen Houston who had 83 in 1990. Carnes finished his playing career at Eastern Kentucky University before receiving a Business Degree from Sullivan University. During the 2008-09 season, Shane served as Head Coach for the Douglas County High School Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team as well as Assistant Coach for the Varsity Boys Basketball team, before transferring to Lithia Springs High School as the Head Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach for two seasons. In 2014, Shane returned to Douglas County High School and was the Head Coach for the Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team and the Assistant Coach for Varsity. In an effort to give back to some of the programs that helped him grow as a student athlete, Shane returned back to his former AAU program, the The Travelers.

Shane is focused on giving back to the community, and states that basketball has been good to me, and has taken me around the world. Now I want to be good for basketball.
