Shay Knighten
Assistant Coach
Shay Knighten is entering her sixth season as an assistant coach with San Diego softball. A two-time national champion and former All-American at Oklahoma, she works closely with hitters and infielders while assisting with recruiting and program operations.
Knighten brings elite playing and coaching experience to the camp environment after helping lead the Sooners to back-to-back national titles in 2016 and 2017. A standout offensive player, she hit .360 over her collegiate career with 42 home runs and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2017 Women’s College World Series.
Following her collegiate career, Knighten was selected 20th overall in the 2019 NPF Draft by the USSSA Pride and helped coach and instruct over 200 youth athletes through camps and clinics.
A native of Buena Park, California, Knighten earned her degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.
